Whether you’ve been to the Top End before or it’s your first time here, there are plenty of unique experiences to tick off your bucket list.
Crocs
The Top End is renowned for its crocodiles. Whether it’s a croc burger or a croc selfie, you’re bound to come across a saltie in some way, shape or form while you’re in the Territory. If you wanna get up close and personal with our scaly mates, we’d recommend a jumping croc tour on the Adelaide River or the Cage of Death experience at Crocosaurus Cove right in the heart of Darwin.
Laksas
You can’t leave Darwin without trying one of our world-famous laksas. Ask any local – laksa isn’t just a soup… it’s a way of life in the Top End. We even have the Darwin International Laksa Festival each year! We recommend heading along to the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets (Thursday and Sunday evenings), Nightcliff Markets (Sunday), Rapid Creek Markets (Saturday and Sunday) or Parap Markets (Saturday) for some noodle soup goodness.
Sunset Cruises
If you like the sound of hanging out with your mates while sippin’ on ice cold drinks and watching epic sunsets, you’ve got to lock in a sunset cruise on Darwin Harbour. Warning: these are popular so book in advance.
Barra
Whether you’re a mad-keen fisho or have never wet a line, a trip to the Top End wouldn’t be complete without hooking one of our famous barramundi. We’ve got heaps of fishing charters to choose from, with half-day and full-day options available.
National Parks
Keen to experience the Territory’s unique waterfalls and waterholes? Hire a car and explore Litchfield National Park while you’re in town. Our hot tip? Pack your swimmers, a picnic blanket and an Esky full of cold drinks and snacks. If you’re keen to explore further afield, Kakadu National Park is a must with its incredible waterfalls, wildlife and Aboriginal rock paintings. Nitmiluk National Park is also a stunner, with hiking, cruising and canoeing options.
