Presented by 2016 People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS local artist, At the Dakota

Hosted by At the Dakota, we’re showcasing a bunch of BASS fans to tell us what they love about BASSINTHEGRASS in our all new #FacesofBASS campaign. And you can too... jump on social media, tag your posts with #FacesofBASS and share with the world your favourite things about Darwin’s best day out… apart from the sweetest line-up around, awesome vibes and sensational summer sunshine, of course!

Keep an eye out here, and on official BASSINTHEGRASS social media channels, as we showcase the 2017 #FacesofBASS!

At the Dakota

Hailing from tropical Darwin, indie-groove pop band At The Dakota have established themselves as one of the most exciting bands to come out of the Northern Territory with their addictive pop sensibilities and hooky, quirky lyrics and melodies. A 5-piece comprising laidback dudes from the Top End, At The Dakota’s sound is influenced by the warmth and optimism that epitomizes Northern Territory living. Their songs are unapologetically groovy and their lyrics are refreshingly cryptic.

At the Dakota – What we love about BASSINTHEGRASS
Sunshine... Epic live music... Heaps of people dancing... Friends... Bucket hats...
There are heaps of things we like about BASSINTHEGRASS.
And given most of the band grew up in Darwin… we’ve always loved going to BASS and seeing some of our favourite acts sweat it out in the Territory heat!
In 2016 we got to knock “playing at BITG” off our wish list. It was amazing. Honestly to play on the same stage as Violent Soho, Boy & Bear, Hermitude and SAFIA it was just mind blowing.
And now in 2017 we’re stoked to link with BITG and present #FacesofBASS
We want to celebrate the people that make BITG so awesome – you guys!
We want to hear what you love about BITG.

To kick things off, here are the top 5 things we love about BITG:

  1. Seeing National Touring Bands in Darwin: You’re so close you can get hit in the face with their sweat droplets. It’s killer seeing some of the best live acts from across Australia in Darwin and if you’re lucky you can run into them on Mitchell Street afterwards!
  2. Hanging Out With Your Mates: We love the fact EVERYONE goes to BITG. It means you can hang with all your buddies at the same time!
  3. Having a Major Event To Go To: BITG is a massive day for us and we love that Darwin has its very own major music event – the Top End wouldn’t be the same without it.
  4. Seeing Local Bands Perform: We absolutely love seeing our mates on the big stage and the quality of local music at the moment means the local acts are always worth checking out and supporting... who knows they might be the next big thing and you want to brag to your mates you saw them first.
  5. Band Merchandise: Ahhhh getting our hands on sweet sweet merch always makes us happy – there’s something special about buying a band T-shirt and changing into it after a long day of partying at BITG… it feels fresh… so fresh and so clean.

Keen to share your favourite things about BITG…. Just get on the social media and tag your posts and photos with #FacesofBASS

Cheers mates!
